- Manchester United released veteran goalkeeper David de Gea at the end of last season
- The Spanish shot-stopper spent 12 years at Old Trafford and left without a real farewell
- De Gea is currently a free agent in search of his new club as transfer deadline day looms
Manchester United has truly left David de Gea out in the cold, with their indecision regarding his new contract leaving him without a new club as the transfer deadline approaches.
De Gea left Old Trafford last season as the longest-serving member of the squad - an impressive 12 years - when his contract expired after the club and his coach failed to decide in time.
The Athletic claimed an offer that drastically reduced his £375,000 a week wage was proposed and accepted by the Spaniard, but the club later refused to sign and the deal was called off.
Fans and the media have criticised the circumstances surrounding de Gea's departure, with their treatment of the legend speaking ill of the club - especially after Cristiano Ronaldo also left United via contract termination.
De Gea steps up solo training
The European transfer window closes at 23:00 tomorrow night. However, countries like Turkey, Russia, and even new moneybags on the block in Saudi Arabia have their windows open for a week longer.
De Gea uploaded a video of himself on Instagram, recirculated by Ultra Utd on X, where he works with his personal trainer to keep himself fit as his search for a new club continues ahead of transfer deadline day.
Bayern Munich and Real Madrid have passed on the opportunity to sign the Spaniard, with his hometown club instead signing his compatriot, Kepa Arrizabalaga from Chelsea.
According to Goal, de Gea turned down the offer from Inter Milan to replace his successor, Andre Onana, at the San Siro Stadium.

FootballWhy De Gea rejected Inter Milan
Sports Brief also reported on why De Gea rejected Inter Milan after the Nerazzurri approached him to replace Onana in what would have been a transfer domino effect.
The Spaniard was reportedly not keen on moving to Italy and it was also reported he was offered a salary of €5mil per season, which fell short of what the goalkeeper sought.
